SHREVEPORT -- Centenary sophomore Boone Whiting had little problems with No. 18 Arkansas on Tuesday night, as he struck nine Razorbacks in the Gents 8-3 victory at Shehee Stadium.

Four of Centenary’s hitters collected two hits, while junior Travis Leverson knocked in a pair of runs. One of Leverson’s RBIs came in the bottom of the first on an infield single to second, which was the first run of the game.

The Gents scored four runs in the first three innings and seemed to be cruising along  until Arkansas brought the game within one in the sixth. All of the Razorbacks tallies came off of the bat of Ben Tschepikow, who blasted a two-run homer in the sixth, while singling one in during the fourth.

Centenary put the game away in the seventh, as three runs came across on RBIs by senior Jomar Tabor and junior Cliff Shepard.

On the mound, Whiting went 7.1 innings, scattered five hits, allowed three runs, walked three to pick-up his first win of the year. For the Hogs, Brett Eibner took the loss after only going 1.1 innings and allowing three runs on five hits.

The Gents and Razorbacks will complete their two-game series on Wednesday with first pitch set for 2:05 p.m.
