SHREVEPORT-In just one week, Centenary College and head men's basketball coach Adam Walsh announced its second 2010-11 commitment as Quin Cooper (Mandeville, La./ Fontainebleau HS) accepted the institution's offer of admission and will play for the Gents basketball team announced Thursday.

"Quin brings an excellent shooting touch and deceptive athleticism in his game. He had a very successful high school career and I expect him to be an immediate contributor to our program. Quin is a great addition to the Gents family," said Walsh.

Cooper hails from Mandeville, La. and Fontainebleau High School where he was a four-year letterwinner for the Bulldogs. Playing under coach Barry Dotson, Cooper excelled during his final two seasons as he joined the school's prestigious 1,000 point club.

The 6'5" guard was also named a First Team All-District selection his junior and senior seasons, while also earning Honorable Mention Academic All-State recognition. As the leader on the court, Cooper averaged 20 points, seven rebounds and three assists per game and poured in a career-best 35 points in one game all during his senior year.

"With my knowledge of Centenary basketball, I believe Quin will be a great fit on and off the court. He will contribute right away as a Gent," said former assistant coach at Centenary (2005-06) and Fountainebleu, Joey Tolis.

Off the basketball court, Cooper was a member of the National Honor Society and earned an impressive 3.9 GPA.

Cooper played summer basketball with Team Shockaz out of Hammond, La. under Chris Reed for one year. He helped his team to a runner-up standing at the Classic Tournament of AAU Nationals.

Despite being undecided about his major at Centenary, Cooper hopes to pursue a career in professional basketball, coaching or athletic training.

Cooper joins other incoming freshman Logan Lowery (Kingwood, Texas/Kingwood HS) for this upcoming Gents basketball season.
