SHREVEPORT, La. – The Centenary baseball team capitalized on two Dallas errors in the 10th inning to force a split on Saturday at Shehee Stadium. The Gents claimed the extra inning affair 4-3 after falling 2-1 in the series opener.

Christian Sebastien crossed the dish as the winning run as Rene Vargas threw the ball wide to first base allowing Sebastien to score from second. The Opelousas, La., native led off the frame reaching on a throwing mistake by Taylor Johnson.

The dramatic conclusion was set up in the eighth as the Maroon and White tied the contest on a Craig Littleman double down the left field line resulting in a ground-rule double that plated Nic Parrott. The Littleman hit was his second in the contest.

Taylor Henry (1-1) logged in the win on the mound with a seven –strikeout performance in five innings of relief work. The Bossier City, La., product gave up four hits with a run in the effort. Paul Arecement tossed five innings in the start allowing two runs – one earned – with four Ks and three walks.

Ryan Gasporra led the scoring off for the Gents with a solo homerun in the first inning – his first of the season – clearing the right field wall.

After UD answered with a run in the second frame, the Maroon and White quickly regained the lead with a run of its own in the bottom half of the inning as Littleman scored on a Ben Schweinfurth ground out.

The Crusaders reclaimed the advantage in the sixth inning with a run after tying the contest in the fifth inning.

Martin Cronin suffered the loss on the bump wit 1.1 innings of action with a hit surrendered.

In opener of the twinbill, the fourth inning proved to be the most influential with both squads plating their run totals in the frame.

The Blue and White benefited from a Gent miscue to score its winning run in the inning. Mark Carlson crossed the dish on a Vargas single, but a Matt Creamer fielding error allowed Sterling Maness to score from second to stand as the difference in the contest.

The Gents committed three errors in the decision.

Centenary cut the lead in half in the bottom of the inning as Tyler Clakley scored on a wild pitch after leading off the inning with a walk and adding a pair of stolen bases.

Layton Tromba (2-1) suffered his first loss of the season. The Bossier City, La., product tossed seven innings with five strikeouts and six hits allowed.

Andrew Bossert recorded the complete-game win for the Crusaders with three strikeouts, three walks and six hits allowed.

Centenary and Dallas meet at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Mar.3 to decide the series. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
