Taylor Henry

Centenary graduate and 2015 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year Taylor Henry returns to Centenary as an Assistant Coach for the 2018 season.

Following his career with the Diamond Gents, he was drafted in the 21st round (629th pick) by the N.Y. Mets. He is currently in the Mets minor league system with the Columbia Fireflies.

 

2015 Senion Season: Named D3baseball.com West Region Pitcher of the Year and to the All-Region Team... Named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year after leading the conference in both saves (nine, 15th in the nation) and strikeouts (85, 21st in the nation). He finished second in the conference and 28th in the nation in ERA (1.59) while finishing seventh in the nation in strikeouts per nine innings (12.3). Won his only two starts of the season, which includes a complete game and 8.1 innings pitched.

2014 Junior Season: Made 18 appearances on the hill with five starts… Pitched 50.1 innings with a 7.69 ERA… Went 5-6 on the bump… Allowed 53 runs on 67 hits… Struck out 44 batters alongside 30 walks… Tossed a season-long 7.2 innings at Dallas on March 16 in his third start of the season… Fanned a season-high eight Crusaders in the outing while gaining his second win of the season… Garnered his first win in a relief effort against LeTourneau on March 11… Grabbed a save on Apr. 19 against Trinity pitching two, hitless and scoreless innings in relief.

2013 Sophomore Season: Made 15 appearances with three starts for the Gents… Posted a 4-2 record with two saves… Tallied a 3.45 ERA in 57.1 innings pitched… Allowed 60 hits with 27 runs, 22 earned… Garnered 40 strikeouts with 22 walks… Tossed a season-long eight innings in his first start of the season against Trinity… Sat down  a season-high seven batters against Dallas and tied the mark at the Crusaders… Garnered his first win of the season at Southwestern in a four inning performance.

2012 Freshman Season: Pitched in 22 contests for the Gents… Finished the season with a 4-3 record with five saves… Fanned 32 batters compared to 20 walks… Tallied a 3.97 ERA… Tossed 47.2 innings… Sat down six in his longest out of the season (six innings) against LeTourneau on Apr. 21… Picked up wins over McMurry (Feb. 25), East Texas Baptist (Mar. 10), Mississippi College (Mar. 31) and against LTU in his longest outing.

Prior to Centenary: Graduated from Airline High School... Earned letters in baseball for the Vikings... Named First Team All-District... Honored as an Academic All-State selection

Personal: Born July 6, 1993 in Shreveport, La.... Calls Bossier City, La. home... Is the son of Rodney Henry and Jennifer Elliott... Has one younger brother... Majored in engineering.
