2017 Junior Season: Named a First Team All-American and All-West Region as a catcher by the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings and D3Baseball.com after leading the nation in RBIs with 71, breaking the Gents single-season record... Named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year... Led the Conference and finished 32nd in the nation with 70 hits... Ranked third in the conference and 134th in the nation with a .382 batting average... Named both D3Baseball.com and SCAC Player of the Week three times... Led the SCAC in doubles (17, 43rd in the nation) and home runs (12, 10th in the nation)... Led the SCAC and finished fourth in the nation with 131 total bases... Led the SCAC and finished 15th in the nation with a .732 slugging percentage... In the SCAC Tournament Championship Game in the second game of a double header on April 30, rocketed the first pitch he saw in the first inning for a grand slam, jumpstarting the Gents to a 13-3 win against Trinity.

2016 Sophomore Season: Started all 39 games of the season... Led the team in both home runs (five) and RBI’s (43)... Finished second on the team in hits (54) and fourth in batting average (.335)... Named Second Team All-Conference as a catcher, throwing out 39.7 percent (29-for-73) of would-be base stealers... Also named Second Team All-West Region by the American Baseball Coaches Association... Hit in his first five games of the season and 18-of-19 to begin 2016... Led the team and finished fifth in the conference with 16 doubles... Had a season-high four hits in four at-bats in the loss to Trinity March 25... Went 2-for-4 with four RBI’s and two runs scored, including a three-run home run, against Austin College in a 10-0 win March 12... Led the team in multi-hit (19) and multi-RBI (12) games.

2015 Freshman Season: Named unanimous SCAC Newcomer of the Year as well as Second Team All-Conference as a freshman… led the Gents with a .358 batting average and 53 hits in 41 games played with 40 starts… tallied 27 RBI’s and one home run… led the team with 64 total bases… Began his collegiate career with a 13-game hitting streak… Went 4-for-5 with four RBI’s and a run scored, including the hit that scored what proved to be the game-winning run, in a 8-4 win April 4.

Prior to Centenary: Played at Archbishop Mitty for Bill Hutton… Named All-League Catcher… Helped the squad to the WCAL title… WCAL Wrestling Champion two consecutive years… Member of the Honor Roll for five semesters.

Personal: Born on March 19… Son of Kimberly and Raymond Zapata… Has a brother, Nic… Majoring in sociology.
