Hello Centenary Gymnastics Fans!

This is sophomore Liz Sander, with this week’s Gym Talk. Your Centenary Ladies started this last week off well-rested after getting back from fall break. Many of the Ladies traveled home for break; but those of us with a longer commute traveled home with friends or teammates and still got to spend some time off campus. Coach Jackie got to spend time with her family on a vacation to south Louisiana; where, based off her Facebook page, she saw A LOT of alligators.  Sophomore Navia Jordan’s travel plans were derailed by hurricane Matthew, so she was unable to travel home to Jacksonville, Florida. Luckily, her family is safe and sound, and Navi was able to spend the break with sophomore Aspen Hattley in Dallas. We can’t wait to have Aspen back on campus with us for the spring semester! While we were on break from classes, we also took a break from the gym. Your ladies used this time off to condition, do some cardio, rehab, and get our bodies rested in preparation for the start of practice.

You read that correctly Centenary gymnastics fans, get excited because practice is now in full swing! Your favorite Ladies are certainly excited because this means the season is right around the corner! Practice started on Thursday, but our busy week started Monday by taking our new headshots for the Centenary Athletics website. Look for new pictures of your stunning Ladies gymnastics team to be up shortly. On Wednesday, we worked with our sports performance coaches, Catalyst, who are going to help us be in the best shape possible to stay healthy and compete well this year.

We have been waiting for weeks and so looking forward to our team retreat this weekend at Coach Jackie’s Lake Shack. The Ladies are anticipating a weekend filled with fun activities, team bonding, and s’mores. Be sure to look for a recap on our retreat in next week’s Gym Talk from sophomore Tavia Smith. I am very excited for team retreat, because I feel like the fifteen of us are already incredibly close, and I can’t wait to see those bonds grow. I know as we continue to build strong relationships and improve our already incredible team chemistry, we are creating a team that will be truly unstoppable.

Thanks for supporting us, and GO LADIES!
