Welcome Ladies' fans to this week’s Gym Talk!

The Centenary gymnastics team just finished a fantastic weekend with two competitions on Friday and Sunday! If you were able to attend either meet, you were in for a treat!

The entire past week has been a busy and exciting whirlwind for the team. We started the week with some solid practices and we had the opportunity to practice with the equipment set up in our home arena. On Friday, the team was pumped up and ready to attack in our beloved Gold Dome! Highlights include freshman Delia Ardoin’s stunning and rock solid beam routine earning her a score of 9.650, senior Allison Scates’ bar routine which scored a 9.875 (9.9 from one judge!), on floor, a 9.875 from the beautiful sophomore Navia Jordan, and on vault, a 9.70 from junior Ashley White on her awesome Yurchenko layout half twist! The ladies got the W on Friday night over University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, and we couldn’t be more excited about where we are so early in the season!

In between the meets, the team had some fun with their families on Saturday evening at a crawfish boil put on by some of the Ladies' parents, who were in town for the meets! The parents also treated us to a delicious and filling breakfast on Sunday morning to set us up for a great day! It was nice to spend some time together enjoying good food and relaxing before our second meet. Many of the Ladies got to spend some quality time with their families as well.

Sunday’s competition against Air Force also had many highlights to be proud of: freshman Delia Ardoin proved her consistency hitting yet another beautiful beam routine, on floor, Navia Jordan won the event for the second straight meet with a 9.8, Allison Scates led on bars again with a 9.8, and the vault team performed several powerful vaults with Ashley’s  earning her second place on the event with a 9.7. Congratulations to Navia Jordan, who was named MIC Specialist of the Week for her two stellar performances on floor this weekend!

All scores aside, the Ladies know what they need to work on and are excited to make some improvements in practice this week before we compete in Iowa this weekend! The travel squad will leave on Wednesday evening for the Dallas airport, and fly to Ames, Iowa the next morning. The team will compete in a tri-meet with Iowa State and Southeast Missouri State on Friday.

Also coming up for the Ladies is a competition at Texas Women’s University in Denton, Texas, on Saturday, February 11! In case you missed it this weekend, you have one more chance to see the Ladies at home in the Gold Dome on February 25, when we compete against Lindenwood University, and it will be Senior and Alumni Day! The Ladies have so much excitement and success ahead of them, so stay tuned! I want to say thank you to all of our fans; you show us so much love and support and we appreciate you!!

Thanks for reading! See you soon ;)

Peace, love and Centenary Gymnastics,
