Hey there Centenary Gymnastics fans! It’s Tavia Smith again coming to you with this week’s gym talk! Coming off the high of a double home meet weekend last week, the Ladies were ready to take on our first away meet not on neutral territory this year. We traveled to Iowa State University to take on the Cyclones and the Redhawks of Southeast Missouri State University.

We began the week with only two practices on Tuesday and Wednesday, but we made sure to make the best of our time in the gym with very solid practices. Coming off a physically demanding weekend, a big focus was put on perfecting our skills, continuing to work on some upgrades, and working on the minor details. We left Wednesday night to head to Dallas, where we were up at 4 am to catch our flight for Iowa early Thursday. The many hours of travel left us tired, but we were still excited to compete on Friday at the Hilton Coliseum.

The Centenary Ladies (not to be mistaken for the Centenary Titans…) started the meet on balance beam. Highlights of this rotation included stellar routines from lead off performer Ashley White, freshman Delia Ardoin, and Senior/ANCHOR Allison “Big Al” Scates. Then, we traveled to the floor exercise, where the end of our line-up proved to be very strong. Way to go Livi, Ash, and Navi! Congrats on awesome floor sets this weekend. Shout out to freshman Olivia Hirsh! I can’t get over how beautiful your front double full is! Also congrats to Kendall Arasmith for making her collegiate floor debut. It’s great to see our floor lineup getting deeper as the season goes on. Competition for those line-up spots will really push our floor team scores up and help our team score. Vault was highlighted by a strong performance from freshman Cami Bea Austin with a career high. Great job Chamomile! On the last event of the night, the ladies received strong bar routines from Aspen Hattley as well as Ashley White! Way to go ladies!

I can’t wait to see how much this team grows and improves in the coming weeks. The Ladies are back in action in a tri-meet at TWU on Saturday, February 11.

That’s all for now.
