Preview: Gents Look to Grab First Win on Road at UMHB, Concordia

SHREVEPORT-The Centenary men's basketball team looks to grab its first win on the road when it travels to the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor on Saturday and Concordia (TX) on Monday. Both games are scheduled for a 7:30 pm tip-off.

The Gents (0-1) are looking to establish themselves as a threat in the new American Southwest Conference after falling in their first game of the year last week at UT-Dallas.

LAST TIME OUT
Centenary fell 79-66 at ASC preseason favorite, UT-Dallas last Saturday. Senior Maxx Nakwaasah lit up the scoreboards with a career-best 26 points, while freshmen Daniel Allen added 11 and Caden Cheramie contributed with 10 in their college debuts.

COUNT IT DOWN FOR MAXX
Senior Maxx Nakwaasah has excelled the last two seasons as the Gents' leading scorer and one of the top rebounders on the team as a small forward. The Dallas, Texas native is eyeing the 1,000 point club and 500 rebound club at Centenary in his final season.

A LOOK AT UMHB
The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor enters Saturday's contest with a 1-0 record having defeated Southwestern University, 82-56 last week. The Crusaders are led by Sterling Phillips and Marlon Miller with 15.0 ppg and Dorian Purnell with 8.0 rpg.

A LOOK AT CONCORDIA
Concordia (TX) will host ETBU on Saturday prior to the Monday game with Centenary. The Tornados sit at 0-1 on the year with a 70-84 loss against Trinity. Larry Durand paces the team with 14.0 ppg and Chris McDermott and Travis Flye each pull down 7.0 rpg.
