Gents face LeTourneau in first road contest of the season

SHREVEPORT, La. – The Centenary men’s basketball team returns to the hardwood on Monday, Dec. 2 as the Gents face LeTourneau in the first, road contest of the campaign. Tip is set for 7 p.m.

Centenary looks to remain unbeaten against LETU taking all six meetings series that dates back to 1970.

The Maroon and White are 2-1 after opening the season up with three, straight home outings, including wins over intra-city foe LSU-Shreveport and Louisiana College.

Jonathan Blount paces Centenary with 26.3 points per game this season and is shooting 68.6-percent from the field with a 66.7-clip from behind the arc. The Shreveport, senior is also 23-for-26 from the charity stripe.

Donovan Williams joins Blount in double-digits. Williams, a native of Sulphur, La., is averaging 12 points through the first three contests and leads the team with 5.7 rebounds per outing. Freshman James Sapp sits second on the team in rebounding averaging 4.7 on the season.

LETU enters the contest sporting a 1-2 record. The Jackets’ win came in a 74-71 overtime decision against Rhoades College. The Blue and Gold’s two losses came against Hendrix (54-52) and East Texas Baptist (71-66).

Ladria Brown paces a trio of Jackets averaging double figures with 14 points. Justin Jones sits second on the team with 12.7 points per game paired with his team-best 10.3 rebounds. Josh Thornton rounds out the threesome with 11.3 points per outing.

Centenary returns to the confines of the Gold Dome on Friday, Dec. 6 as the Gents welcome Austin College in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference opener. Tip is scheduled for 6 p.m.
