Kirkendoll Named to D3hoops.com Team of the Week
SHREVEPORT, La. – Centenary Gents basketball junior Travion Kirkendoll was named to the D3hoops.com Team of the week on Tuesday, February 14.
“We are excited that he has gotten back into scoring mode and that we have seen his shooting percentages rise in the past few weeks,” said head coach Adam Walsh. “His offensive game is an important part of what we try to do as a program, and we need him to set the tone.”
Kirkendoll averaged 29 points in the two games this week to help Centenary clinch a spot in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament. He scored a career high 37 points on Friday night, but the Gents came up just short of the SCAC leaders Schreiner, 90-86.
On Saturday in the Gents 87-81 win of Trinity, he scored 21 points, grabbed seven boards, and dished out five assists to complete the season sweep of the Tigers.
On the week, Kirkendoll averaged 55 percent from the floor and shot 10-16 from beyond the arc. He also contributed five rebounds and four assists per game.
For the season, Kirkendoll ranks second in the SCAC in steals per game (2.1), third in scoring (17.8) and fifth in rebounds per game (7.1).
Centenary concludes the regular season when it hosts Austin College for senior night on Saturday night, February 18. Tip is scheduled for 6 p.m.
