Ladies finish 11th; Gents 9th at UT-Tyler Invitational

TYLER, Texas – The Centenary men’s and women’s cross country teams opened their 2014 seasons on Friday evening at the University of Texas at Tyler Invitational. The Ladies finished 11th with the Gents concluding the meet in ninth.

Christy Wolterman was the top finisher for Centenary on the women’s side with Andrew Borel leading the Gents. Wolterman finished 62nd with a time of 26:19.95. Borel finished 67th with a time of 20:39.11.

As a team the Ladies posted an overall time of 2:49:58.57 with the Gents recording a team time of 1:54:05.99.

Kayla Thornhill finished 71st for the Ladies with a time of 28:14.79 with Brittany Wagner in 82nd with a time of 33:32.31. Heather Wilson and Alex Taylor rounded on the Centenary team finishing 85th (39:57.72) and 88th (41:53.80) respectively.

On the men’s side Gregory Simmons finished 74th with a time of 22:06.76 as Arash Ataei finished 78th posting a time of 22:47.50. Kellen Bullock and Joseph Reilly concluded the Gents’ squad in 83rd and 84th place respectively with times of 24:03.25 and 24:29.37.

Centenary returns to action on Friday, Sept. 12 as the squads take part in the Southern Arkansas University hosted Lois Davis Invitational in Magnolia, Ark. Ladies 5K begins at 6 p.m. with the Gents 8K scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
