TYLER, Texas – Playing 36 holes in one day on Monday, Sept. 26, every Centenary Gent golfer improved or shot the same from round one to two as the Maroon and White finished 12th with a total of 626 (+50) at the Al Jones Memorial at the par-72 Hollytree Country Club in Tyler, Texas.

Centenary beat out both Howard Payne (647, +71) and rival Louisiana College (650, +74). Tyler Junior College won the tournament with a 575 total (-1).

“We improved from the first round to the second, so I am always pleased with that,” said head coach Emlyn Aubrey. “We are gaining the experience needed to be more consistent. It's exciting to see the improvements and more importantly, see the team realize that their golf games are becoming more competitive.”

Freshman Brodey Warner and sophomore Jesse Hall led the way for Centenary, both firing a two-round score of 152 (+8) to finish for a tie for 36th in a 76-player field. Warner was one of only seven players to record an eagle on for the tournament, carding a three on the par-5 16th in the first round. He finished 13th in par-5 scoring, finishing the tournament -2 on those holes (4.80 average).

Warner shot a 78 (+6) in round one and 74 (+2) in round two.

Hall fired a 76 (+4) both days. He finished 20th in par-3 scoring (+2, 3.20 average). He contributed five birdies for the tournament.

Freshman Reed Balcerowicz shot an 80 (+8), improving by three strokes in round two and finishing tied for 54th with a two-round total of 157 (+13). Sophomore Edvard Granrud went from  an 85 (+13) to an 80 (+8) to finish the day with a 173 (+21).

Sophomore Henry Llorence rounded out the Gents field with rounds of 90 (+18) and 87 (+15) to finish 72nd with a 177 total (+33).

Centenary wraps up fall play in a month at the Hardin-Simmons Abilene Intercollegiate in Abilene, Texas.
