Varner First Among University Golfers, Gents Finish Ninth at YellowJacket Invite

LONGVIEW, Texas – Ladies golf sophomore Jessica Varner finished fourth overall and first among 4-year college golfers, while the Gents moved up to ninth on the final day of the YellowJacket Invitational at the Pinecrest Country Club Tuesday, March 14.

Varner fired the fourth-best final round with a 3-over 75, finishing the tournament with a 151 total (+7). For the tournament, she tied for third among the field in on par-5s by scoring even par. Classmate Taylor Adair moved up one spot to 11th, shooting 82 (+10) on day two and 163 (+19) for the tournament.

The Gents finished with a three-round total of 957 (+105). Freshman Reed Balcerowicz Shot a 77 (+6) in each of the final two rounds to finish with a total of 236 (+23). Classmate Gabe Rodriguez fired a final-round 81 (+10) to finish 46th with a 241 (+28).

Freshman Brodey Warner also posted a final round of 81 (+10) and finished 49th (+29). Junior Graham Maxwell posted a 91 (+20) and finished 63rd with a three-round score of 256 (+43).
