No stranger to the college, Curtis returns after previously serving as the Vice President for Enrollment Services. Curtis, who enters his second season at the helm, takes over the third-year program which was the first and only NCAA lacrosse team in the state of Louisiana.
Last season, Curtis mentored two All-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference players in Orin Redwood and Max Beilke along with three All-SCAC honorable mentions in Hunter Fairbairn, Loren Lepore and Demri Robinson.
Redwood paced the Gents in points, goals, and shots on goal and was tied for second on the squad in assists. Beilke tied for fifth on the team in points, tied for second in assists on the campaign and led the team in turnovers caused.
The five Gents each ranked in the top 10 in groundballs for the team with Robinson and Fairbairn leading the team in face-off percentage.
Curtis brings twenty-plus years as a player, coach and conference administrator to the program. He served an instrumental role in the founding of fellow Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference member, Southwestern University’s lacrosse club team and was inducted into their Hall of Fame in 1995.
During his time as the Pirates’ coach, Curtis compiled a 70-56 record including a win in the conference finals over the University of Texas and securing a 15-1 record and clinching the Southwest Lacrosse Association Championship.
