Lacrosse falls 16-0 to Birmingham Southern

SHREVEPORT, La. – The Centenary lacrosse team dropped a 16-0 decision on Thursday afternoon to Birmingham Southern College. The setback is the sixth for the Gents while the Black and Gold improve to 4-4 on the season.
The Maroon and White attempted 13 shots in the contest – two shy of tying the season-high of 15 recorded against Hope College on Tuesday, but the Gents were unable to find the back of the net. Matt Ferrell and Garrett Wick paced the squad with three shot attempts each.
Headley VanMeter, Peter Raffanti and Mike VanSickle each scored a team-leading two goals in the outing while Ryan Sobb paced the squad with seven attempts including a team-best three on-goal.
Bastien Hay (0-5) logged all 60 minutes in net and tallied six saves against the 16 goals surrendered. Hank Harris (1-0) claimed the win for BSC in net with three saves en route to pitching the shutout between the pipes.
After allowing seven goals in the opening 15 minutes, Centenary held the Panthers to nine goals the remaining 45 minutes. The goals allowed are the fewest in program history.
Centenary returns to action on Monday, March 24 as the Gents host Huntingdon College at 6 p.m.
