SHREVEPORT – The Centenary soccer programs have released their 2012 fall schedules as the Ladies and Gents prepare for action in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) for the first time.

With the move into the SCAC, Centenary is eligible to compete in the conference’s postseason tournament.

Both programs will kick off their campaigns with the Mayor’s Cup against Shreveport rival LSUS Aug. 27 with the women starting at 3 p.m., followed by the men at 5 p.m.

That starts a string of three straight road games before the Gents make their home debut Sept. 8 against Howard Payne University. The Gents will start SCAC play Sept. 21 at Austin College at 4 p.m. before hosting Hendrix College Sept. 23, beginning a three-game home stand.

The home stand is followed by four straight SCAC road games before the Gents host five of their 11 home games to cap the regular season. The SCAC Tournament follows in San Antonio Nov. 2-4 for both programs.

“This is a great schedule and will be a challenge for the Gents,” said head coach David Orr, who’s entering his fifth season at the helm. “We're looking forward to getting on the pitch.”

The Gents finished 13-3-1 in 2011.

The Ladies schedule is similar to the Gents slate, hosting nine games and traveling for eight. After opening the season at LSUS, the Ladies play two more away from Mayo Field before making their home debut against Millsaps College Sept. 9 at 2 p.m.

On the road against Austin College also marks the first SCAC game, preceding three straight at home against Hendrix College, Trinity University and Southwestern University. Then the Ladies take on three straight conference foes on the road before wrapping up the regular season with four consecutive home games.

The Ladies look to improve on last season’s 10-8-1 mark.
