Gents open SCAC play Friday
Thursday, September 20, 2012

SHERMAN, Texas – Both Centenary soccer squads play in their first-ever Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) contests Friday afternoon as the Ladies and Gents face off with Austin College.

The Ladies (2-1-1) and Gents (2-3) have had more than a week’s rest after the Sept. 14 matches with Wiley College were postponed due to inclement weather.

The Gents begin Friday’s doubleheader with the Kangaroos (3-1-2) at 2 p.m., followed by the Ladies showdown with the Lady Kangaroos, who enter the weekend with a 2-4 mark.

The last time the Ladies took the field, sophomore defender Carly Slovensky had a career night, scoring three goals in a 4-2 win over LeTourneau Sept. 11. The Gents snapped a three-game losing streak Sept. 16 with a 2-1 double-overtime win over Millsaps College at Mayo Field thanks to Spencer Nickerson’s game-winner.

After the road match, Centenary will host a trio of doubleheaders starting Sept. 23 against Hendrix College before Trinity and Southwestern visit for Centenary’s home debut in SCAC play.
