Gents unable to snap losing skid at Colorado College

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado College’s Matt Fechter and Alec Sowers scored a goal apiece as the Tigers downed Centenary College 2-0 Sunday afternoon in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men’s soccer action.

The Tigers improve to 10-3 and 4-1 in SCAC play while the Gents drop their sixth straight and fall to 2-9 and 0-5 in league play. The Gents continue their four-game road trip at Southwestern Oct. 12 at 6 p.m. before wrapping it up Sunday at Trinity at noon.

Fechter netted his 12th goal of the year off a Sowers assist in the 51st minute after a scoreless first half. Sowers found the back of the net for the first time 26 minutes later, unassisted.

Centenary managed just four shots, three on goal. Spencer Nickerson accounted for two of the three. Kellen Klaus had the other on goal attempt.

Colorado College outshot Centenary 21-4, including a 9-3 edge on goal. Gents senior goalie Robbie Ramirez gathered seven saves in just over 83 minutes before junior Chase Duet closed the final 6:25.

Forest Marowitz went the distance for Colorado College, improving to 7-0-0 in the net.
