GEORGETOWN, Texas – Senior forward Spencer Nickerson leads Centenary into Friday’s 6 p.m. Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference contest against Southwestern University. The Gents (2-9, 0-5 SCAC) are looking to snap a six-match losing skid, including a 2-1 home loss to Southwestern Sept. 30. Adam Ghaemmaghami scored the Gents lone goal in that loss, slicing into the Pirates 2-0 in the 62nd minute. Friday night’s contest is game three of the Gents four-game road trip, wrapping up at Trinity Sunday at noon. Centenary begins a five-match home stand at Mayo Field Oct. 20 against Austin College at 3 p.m. Southwestern enters the match 8-6 and 2-3 in SCAC play and have won two of their last three, including the win over Centenary nearly two weeks ago. The Pirates are off a 2-0 loss to Trinity Oct. 6, which snapped a two-match winning streak. Nickerson leads the Gents in numerous offensive categories entering the weekend, including goals (4), points (10) and joins Gabriel Zahm as the only two Gents with two assists. Nickerson accounts for one-third of the Gents shots on goal having fired 18. |
