SHREVEPORT – Centenary’s men’s and women’s soccer teams play host to Austin College in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader Saturday starting at 3 p.m. as the Ladies and Gents look to end their losing skids. The Gents (2-11, 0-7) kick off the day’s festivities at 3 p.m. with the ‘Roo (6-5-2, 2-3), who are riding a three-match losing streak. Centenary rides an eight-match losing streak. The Ladies enter the weekend at 3-7-1 (0-6) and Austin College’s women are 4-8-1 (2-2). The Ladies hope to snap their five-match losing streak against the Lady ‘Roos, who own a four-game skid. Saturday’s matches mark the first of five straight home games to finish the regular season for the Gents and the first of four straight for the Ladies. With a struggling Austin College squad coming into town, Centenary has a chance to make up ground in SCAC play before the conference tournament Nov. 2. Spencer Nickerson leads Centenary offensively with four goals, two assists and 10 total points, and holds a significant leads in shots with 40. Adam Ghaemmaghami is second on the team with 16 and eight shots on goal, 10 shy of Nickerson’s 18 on-goal attempts. Madison Alexander and Carly Slovensky continue to lead the Ladies offense with 10 points apiece, but Slovenksy holds a 5-4 goals scored advantage. However, Alexander’s four goals are complemented by a team-best two assists, shared with Traci Lee. |
