SHREVEPORT, La. -- The Centenary men’s soccer team searches for its first win of the campaign as the Gents travel to Conway, Ark., for two matches in the Hendrix College Tournament. The Maroon and White open on Saturday, Sept. 14 against the host Warriors before concluding the weekend with Rhodes College at Noon on Sunday.

Gabriel Zahm and Clinton Azeez led the Centenary offensive attack in 1-0 setback to Austin College on Wednesday evening in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference opener. The duo combined for four of the seven shots taken by the Gents on the evening while Daryn Beaugh, Danny Haar and Chris Berrios rounded out the shot effort.

Austin Andrews (0-3) tallied five saves in the complete 90 minutes in the net for the Gents in the decision.

Beaugh stands as the lone goal scorer on the season for the Maroon and White while Zahm and Berrios pace the squad in shots with three each. Andrews has tallied 14 saves in 225 minutes in net while allowing five goals on the season.

The Warriors (1-5) enter the weekend looking to snap a four-game skid after claiming the decision in their season opener, a 1-0 win over Westminster (Mo.) on Aug. 30.

Jacob Pierce leads the Orange and Black with four goals while taking a team-best 17 shots with nine coming on target. Marco Luna has tallied a majority of time in net for the Warriors with just over 400 minutes and has posted a 1-2-1 record with 14 saves against 10 goals allowed.

Rhodes also enters the weekend on a slide having dropped three straight after claiming a 6-0 victory in its season opener over Emory and Henry College.

Jason Cruther and Eric Ly pace the Lynx with four goals each on the season as the duo sit first and third on the squad in shots. Ly leads with 25 goals with 13 on goal while Cruther has 20 shots, including 11 on target. Josh Bennett ranks second on the team with 23 shots with three goals.

Following the weekend contests, Centenary returns to action on Tuesday, Sept. 17 as the Gents host LeTourneau at 7 p.m.
