Gents finish fourth, Ladies fifth at NSISC meet

Cleveland, Miss. - The Centenary Gents swim team grabbed fourth at the New South Intercollegiate Conference Swimming Championships while the Ladies finished fifth of seven schools. The championships concluded Friday night.

Henderson State topped the women's rankings with 777 points, well ahead of Truman State's 686 tally. The Ladies accumulated 535 points. Missouri S&T grabbed the men's title with 752 points, nearly 100 ahead of host Delta State (655.5). Centenary racked up 551.5 points despite not having a diving team.

Devin Ross (48.44) secured a second-place finish in the 100-yard men's butterfly behind Delta State's Vlad Zinca (48.15). Henry Peter finished fifth with a 49.51 showing.

Austin Butler (1:41.60) and Anthony LeBlanc (1:42.49) led the Gents in the 200-yard freestyle with third and fifth-place finishes, respectively.

In the 100-yard men's backstroke, Ross Olivier paddled to a sixth-place finish with a 51.75 performance, followed my teammate Michael Schwandt in seventh with 52.26.

Hayley Schneider (58.29) and Laura Huning (58.47) finished in fourth and fifth places in the women's 100-yard butterfly.

In the 200-yard women's freestyle, Cassandra Cloutet 's 1:56.79 marked was good enough for sixth while Brittany Wilkens (1:09.08) grabbed eighth place in the 100-yard breaststroke.

Lauren Lassiter finished third in the 100-yard backstroke, just two seconds off the lead, while teammate Chelsea Russell grabbed fifth with a 59.31 mark.

The Ladies 800-yard freestyle relay (Chelsea Russell, Ashley Giffen, Laura Huning and Cassandra Cloutet) recorded a time of 7:48.76, good enough for fifth place.
