Centenary Shows Well at Hendrix with 28 Top 3 Finishes
The Ladies and Gents each captured fourth on Day 1 of the Invite with scores of 274 and 295, respectively. The squads bounced back for an impressive showing in the Relays on Saturday, both finishing third with the Ladies scoring 366 and the Gents 360. Hendrix Invite - Day 1 Taking first on the women's side was Ouachita Baptist with 379 points, followed by Oklahoma Baptist in second with 344 and University of Arkansas-Little Rock in third with 317. The Gents saw six Top 3 finishes, led by Devin Ross' first place finish in the 100 yard Free with a time of 46.99. Ross Olivier took second in the 200 yard Back in 1:57.15. Also scoring well individually was Matthew Pittman in third in the 1000 yard Free (10:12.90) and Peter Henry third in the 50 yard Free (21.99). The 400 yard Medley Relay team of Olivier, Chris Kalmbach, Ross and Caleb McSorley took third with a time of 3:33.98, while the 400 yard Free Relay team of Henry, McSorley, Ross and Anthony LeBlanc grabbed third as well in 3:11.41. Hendrix Relays-Day 2 Placing second in their respective relays was the 300 yard Back (3:04.27) of Kate Rivers, Lassiter and Ashley Giffen, while the 300 yard Medley Relay (3:10.85) of Olson, Chelsea Russell and Lassiter also took second. In third was the 400 yard Medley Relay (4:08.44) of Russell, Wilkens, Huning and Kayla Thornhill, the 300 yard Breast (3:38.35) swam by Jones, Wilkens and Russell, the 500 yard Free (4:51.18) swam by Anee Briglio, Gaubert, Giffen and Thornhill , the 200 yard Medley Relay (1:54.72) of Lassiter, Wilkens, Olson, and Jones and finally the 400 yard Free Relay (3:42.00) of Cloutet, Huning, Jones, Russell. Taking the Relays team title on the women's side was Henderson State with 426 points, followed by Oklahoma Baptist in second with 413. On the men's side, Centenary captured 10 Top 3 finishes, led by five second-place nods. The 400 yard Medley Relay (3:32.44) of Henry, Kalmbach, Ross, Ross, and Austin Butler placed second, while the 300 yard Back Relay (2:39.36) swam by Michael Schwandt, Olivier and Henry also placed second. Finishing runner-up was the 300 yard Fly Relay (2:37.45) of Henry, Ross, and Cameron Green, along with the 200 yard Medley Relay (1:37.30) of Henry, Kalmbach, Ross, and McSorley and the 400 yard Free Relay (3:11.28) of Ross, Butler, McSorley, and LeBlanc. Placing third was the 200 yard Free Relay (1:27.13) swam by McSorley, LeBlanc, Olivier and Mitchell Foster, while the 800 yard Free Relay (7:19.37) of Butler, LeBlanc, Adam Pennington, and Foster also placed third. Centenary continued to do well tagging three more Relay teams with third-place finishes in the 1500 yard Free Relay (15:18.28) swam by Matthew Pittman, Pennington and Ben Donaldson, the 300 yard Medley Relay (2:45.73) of Butler, Kalmbach, and Oliver, and finally the 500 yard Free Relay (4:19.20) of Beau Montgomery, Green, Pittman, and Foster. Leading the men's relay events was Oklahoma Baptist with 418 points, followed by Henderson State in second with 403 points. UP NEXT |
