Harrison and McDonald All-Conference, Tapia Hits NCAA “B” Mark
LEWISVILLE, Texas – Juniors Zach Harrison (200 freestyle) and Anthony McDonald (100 breaststroke) finished All-Conference in their respective events, joining senior Juan Tapia in the 400 IM who finished second for the second-straight year and hit the NCAA “B” Mark to lead Centenary swimming on day three of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships Friday, February 11.
Freshmen Jessi Jordan (1:10.29) and Tori Boyle (1:12.63) entered the Ladies record book with top-10 program times in the 100 breaststroke. Jordan just missed All-Conference recognition by finishing fourth with the fifth-best time in program history, while Boyle took ninth. Boyle’s prelim time of 1:12.32 was the eighth-fastest in Ladies history.
Both the Ladies (226 points) and Gents (307.5) sit fourth after the third day in the team standings. With 680 points, Trinity leads on the women’s side by more than 100 points. Southwestern is clinging to a 20.5 lead over Trinity (610-589.5) on the men’s side.
Tapia completed the 400 IM for the Gents in 4:06.65 to finish second, nearly a second faster than the NCAA “B” mark and more than eight seconds faster than the third-place finisher. Harrison also took runner-up honors in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:42.06, the fifth-best time in Gents history and two seconds faster than his previous career best.
McDonald touched the wall in 59.64 in the 100 breaststroke to grab All-Conference honors by finishing third.
