Ladies claim 6-3 win at ETBU; Gents swept

MARSHALL, Texas – The Centenary Ladies picked up their seventh win of the season with a 6-3 win over East Texas Baptist while the Gents fell to 3-6 on the season following a 9-0 decision to the Tigers on Saturday evening.

The Ladies picked up four of the six singles points and two wins in doubles action en route to the victory. Lauren Beurlot, Ana Dangelo, Katie Cornwell and Katelyn Alexander each claimed wins on both sides of the court. Beurlot and Dangelo teamed up for an 8-1 victory in doubles with Cornwell and Alexander claiming an 8-3 victory.

Dangelo (6-0, 6-4), Cornwell (7-5, 6-1) and Alexander (6-2, 6-1) each slotted straight set wins with Beurlot picking up a three-set victory (6-4, 3-6, 6-0) at the No. 2 singles spot for the Maroon and White’s fourth win.

On the men’s side, Michael Reeks and Cameron Bueche were the only Gents not to be swept in singles play. Reeks dropped a 6-1, 6-3 affair to his ETBU counterpart while Bueche fell 6-2, 6-0 in singles. The duo also fell 8-2 in doubles action to Tyler Tolopka and Jeremy Rhodes. The team of Zack Provenza and Don Adley fell 8-1 in doubles.

Centenary returns to the courts on Sunday, Apr. 7 against Southwestern.
