Ladies, Gents fall to Millsaps

SHREVEPORT, La. – The Centenary tennis teams concluded their regular seasons today at home against the Millsaps Majors. The Gents had a tough go falling 9-0 while the Ladies dropped a 5-1 decision.

Katie Cornwell grabbed the lone win for the Ladies with a 6-4, 6-0 decision over Laura Kebert at the No. 3 singles spot. The Ladies pairings of Madelyn Mull and Lauren Beurlot fell 8-2 in doubles while Katelyn Alexander and Cornwell fell 8-5 in their doubles play. Mull (6-0, 6-1), Beurlot (6-0, 6-2), and Alexander (6-3, 6-0) each fell in singles play.

The Gents were swept in two doubles matches paired with four single’s losses. The team of Anthony McMaster and Adam Ghaemmaghami dropped an 8-3 decision on the men’s side while Michael Reeks (6-3, 6-1) and Cameron Bueche (6-1, 6-1) recorded the only success for the Maroon and White in single’s action.

Both squads return to action as the No. 5 seeds in the SCAC Championships. The teams each face No. 4 seed Austin at 8 a.m. on Apr. 27 at Trinity.
