Centenary Gents Triumph Over Panthers

MACON, GA.— Senior Jeffrey Krulin scored his first goal of the season with less than four minutes left in the second half as the Centenary Gents outdo the Georgia State Panthers 2-1 with their first win of the season at the Mercer Invitational.

After a scoreless first half, senior Jonathan Scraggs was able to score first for the Panthers off a tip in by Centenary defender Jonathan Wright.

Junior J.J Meyer evened the score in the in the 75th minute with the set up and pass from freshman Osama Buazza. With only 3:64 left on the clock, Krulin was able to get it past the GSU keeper putting the second point on the board for the Gents and the game-winning goal in his pocket. The Gents controlled the offense out shooting the Panthers 18-12.

Freshman goalie James Speed kept the Panthers scoreless in the first half and had a season high seven saves.

Fouls were fairly even during the match with Centenary junior Ryan Nicholson receiving a yellow card in the 29th minute and GSU defender Armin Marquez receiving a red card at the 49:58 mark.

The Gents (1-3-0) will be at home this Saturday to battle the Drury Panthers (2-1-0) at 2:00 p.m.
