Ladies Drop Third Straight, Fall to UC-Riverside
Saturday, September 25, 2004

CEDAR CITY, Utah – The Centenary women’s soccer team lost their third consecutive match of the season, 8-0 to UC-Riverside. The loss marks the end of an eight-match road streak in which the Ladies finished 4-3-1.

The Highlanders (8-0-0) dominated the pace of the match, out-shooting Centenary 27-5 and facing only one shot on goal. Junior keeper Lindsay Stafford surrendered five of the UCR goals before giving way to freshman Ali Hilsher in the 59th minute.

The loss is the second shutout of the year against the Ladies (5-3-1, 1-1), who were unable to find any sort of offensive groove. Centenary was forced to play without senior Mindi Levinksi after she was ejected from Thursday’s match against Southern Utah. Freshman leading scorer Tara Sageser was held scoreless for only the second time this season.

The Ladies (5-3-1, 1-1) return home to begin a much-deserved six-match homestand, hosting Louisiana Tech on Tuesday. Centenary has not played a home contest since August 29th.
