SHREVEPORT—New Centenary volleyball coach Patrick Maiden has announced Elise Sisson as his first signee since taking over the reigns of the Ladies program on July 10th. Sisson will be a part of the 2007 roster that reports to campus for the first day of practice on August 11th.

Sisson is a native of Linden, Calif., and comes to Centenary by way of Linden High School. The six-foot right side may also see time as a middle blocker in the Ladies lineup. She was an all-district selection at Linden and was named to the all-academic team three times. She served as the team captain and was honored as the Stockton Record Athlete of the Week in October of 2005.

Sisson finished her senior prep season with 189 kills and 101 blocks to go along with 70 service aces and a kill percentage of .467. She holds the school record for most solo blocks in a single match with 11 and participated in the Junior Olympics in both 2006 and 2007 with Club Pacific.

“Elise is a very hard worker who has the drive to win to go along with a great attitude,” said Maiden. “She will be able to step in and help the team in many different roles.”

Sisson and the rest of the Ladies will open the 2007 season on August 24th and 25th in College Station, Texas, at the Texas A&M Tournament. Centenary will face Prairie View A&M, Texas A&M, and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi during the two-day event.
