SHREVEPORT – To open the 2007 season, the Centenary women’s soccer team travels to the Natural State to play Arkansas State on Friday and Arkansas-Little Rock on Sunday. The Ladies are coming off of a 4-11-1 season, and a conference record that saw them miss the tournament by a mere two and a half games. Centenary also returns their leading scorer from 2006, sophomore Stefani Robbs (Farmers Branch, Texas), who was named to the Mid-Con’s All-Newcomer Team and also earned conference Offensive Player of the Week on Aug. 28.

The Ladies will be led by three seniors in 2007, goalkeeper Ali Hilsher (Tulsa, Okla.), forward Bre Fletcher (Schertz, Texas) and midfield/defender Cori Dullnig (San Antonio, Texas). Fletcher was tied for second on the team in goals with two last season, joining junior Lauren Stanley (Mesquite, Texas). Fletcher was also tied for first on the team in assists (2) with sophomore Kristine Weaver (Prosper, Texas) and Lauren Mills.

Arkansas State comes into 2007 looking to rebound from its 1-17-1 record in 2006. The Indians do return their leading scorer from a season ago Markie McRae, as she led the team with seven goals and 14 points. Last season the Ladies shutout ASU 2-0 in Shreveport, with Ashley Caldarola notching the game-winning goal.

Arkansas-Little Rock, who begins its 2007 season against Memphis on Friday, looks to bounce back from its 6-14 mark in 2006. Jessica Beaver led the Trojans with five goals and was tied for second with 11 points. UALR defeated the Ladies last season on Mayo Field 1-0 with a goal in the 57th minute.

The Ladies will play one more road match against Louisiana-Monroe on Sept. 5, before opening at home on Friday, Sept. 7, against Texas State.
