The Centenary Gents fall 2-1 to Central Arkansas

CONWAY, Ark. – In a defensive struggle on Friday night between Central Arkansas and the Centenary men’s soccer team, the Bears just edged the Gents 2-1. UCA scored in the 10th minute of play and again in the 63rd minute before Centenary could get on the board via Aaron Volanski's (Magnolia, Texas) goal during the 66th minute of action.

On Volanski’s first goal of the year, junior Gabriel Silvas (Euless, Texas) dished off his first assist of the season.

The Gents had three shots on goal, while the Bears had four. Senior goalkeeper James Speed (San Antonio, Texas) had two saves, while his counterpart Chris Murphy also had a pair of saves.

On the defensive side of the field, the Gents allowed 16 shots, with five coming in the first half and 11 in the second. Central Arkansas allowed one shot in the first period and six during the last 45 minutes of play.

Centenary starts the season 0-1, while Central Arkansas goes to 1-0 in 2007. The Gents will try to bounce back on Saturday against Missouri State at 7 p.m. in Springfield, Mo.
