Gents Fall to Missouri State 4-1 on Saturday
Saturday, September 1, 2007

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Centenary men’s soccer team had its opportunities to put more shots away on Missouri State, as the Gents had eight shots on goal and the Bears put seven on. However, Centenary could not find the back of the net more than once as the Gents were downed 4-1 on Saturday. Freshman Josh Gomillion (Arlington, Texas) and junior Aaron Volanski (Magnolia, Texas) led Centenary with two shots on goal, as one of Gomillion’s shots also found the back of the net.

Missouri State jumped on top with two goals in the first half, but right before the break Gomillion netted his first collegiate goal to bring the match within one. However, the Bears answered back with a goal in the 50th minute and again at 78:11 to ice the victory.

Between the posts for Centenary was senior James Speed (San Antonio, Texas), who made one save, while his Missouri State counterpart, Lance Parker had five saves. The defenses for both teams were also able to keep the ball out of the net twice.

Centenary falls to 0-2 on the year, while Missouri State begins its 2007 season 1-0. The Gents will be back in action on Sunday, Sept. 9, against Alabama-Birmingham.
