Centenary Men's Soccer Downed by UAB

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Alabama-Birmingham scored all they needed to in the match's first eight minutes, as it defeated the Centenary men’s soccer team 4-0. UAB scored its final two goals at 30 minutes even, and again at 38:52.


Centenary was led by junior Aaron Volanski and freshman Dan Martens, who each had a pair of shots, with one landing on goal. The Gents had nine on the afternoon, while UAB had 24. Centenary was able to make seven saves, while UAB’s goalkeepers made four.


In goal for the Gents was senior James Speed, who allowed four goals, but made four saves. Playing in the second half was freshman Rennie Walker, who had three saves in his first collegiate appearance. Between the posts for UAB was Wes Johnson and Carl Woszczynski, who combined to make four saves.


The Gents fall to 0-3 in 2007, and open up their home schedule against Bellhaven on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
