SHREVEPORT – After a scoreless first half, junior captain Aaron Volanski took control of the match and scored two second period goals to help lead the Centenary men’s soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Belhaven College on Wednesday night.

It was an all around defensive effort for the Gents, as they held the Blazers to six shots. Senior goalkeeper James Speed gets the win and moves his record to 1-3-0. The Corpus Christi, Texas, native did not have to do much work between the pipes, stopping the only shot he faced.

Volanski’s first goal of the evening came in the 69th minute on a penalty kick, and his second came on a break away from the foot of junior Gabriel Silvas at 84:30. Volanski on the evening had match-high six shots on goal with eight total.

Centenary is now 1-3-0 and will play at the Western Kentucky Tournament on Friday, as they play the Hilltoppers on Friday and Marshall Sunday afternoon.
