SHREVEPORT—The Centenary volleyball team begins the conference portion of its schedule when it hosts fellow Summit League member Oakland in the Gold Dome on Friday at 7 p.m.

Centenary (1-11) looks to snap its current four-match losing streak and has fallen in its last three conference matches dating back to last season. The last league win for the Ladies came against Oakland in a 3-2 victory in the Gold Dome. Centenary swept the Golden Grizzlies in 2006 and finished ahead of them in the Mid-Con standings.

Stephanie Hobaugh is coming off a fine match in Wednesday’s loss to Jackson State as the freshman tallied 12 kills and seven service aces. She now ranks second on the team with 104 total kills. Junior Ashlee Freeman continues to lead the way for Centenary with 124 kills while senior Lindsay Bekelja has 353 assists on the year.

Oakland (4-7), playing under first-year coach Rob Beam, has already increased its win total from last season (1-25). The Golden Grizzlies lost to tenth-ranked Michigan on Tuesday, but were riding a three-match win streak before that. Oakland has notched wins this season over Southern Mississippi, La Salle, St. Francis, and Toledo.

Sophomore Adrienne Leone has compiled 103 kills as the go-to player for Oakland and junior outside hitter Amy Golem has added 88 kills. Freshman Katy Wilson is running the offense efficiently with 255 assists and junior libero Lauren Duquette is tops on the team with 204 digs.
