BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – An early hole once again proved to be too much for the Centenary men’s soccer team, as the Gents fell to Marshall 5-2 on Sunday afternoon. Junior Aaron Volanski did his best to help keep his teammates in the match, as the captain netted two goals to bring his season total to five.

The Thundering Herd scored four goals in the match's first 17 minutes, as Jermaine Johnson scored twice. Volanski scored the first Gents goal in the 29th minute off of a penalty kick. Volanski’s second goal of the afternoon came at 71:52 off the foot of Keegan Wahood.

Volanski had a match-best four shots, while freshman Josh Gomillion had three and junior Will Todd had a pair.

Marshall out shot Centenary 20-10, while the Gents were led in goal by senior James Speed, who made five stops. Brad Kennedy and Adam Greene spilt time between the posts for the Herd combining to stop four shots.

Centenary is now 1-5 on the season and will play nationally ranked Southern Methodist on Thursday in Dallas. The next home action for the Gents will be on Sunday, as they open Summit League play against IUPUI at 1 p.m.
