Ladies Fall to Oral Roberts 3-0

TULSA, Okla.—The Centenary volleyball team dropped its second consecutive Summit League match with a 3-0 loss to Oral Roberts on the road Saturday. The Golden Eagles defeated the Ladies 30-19, 30-10, 30-19.


The defending champion Golden Eagles showed why they are a strong choice to contend for the conference title again this season by hitting at a .417 clip against the Ladies. Oral Roberts (7-6, 2-0 Summit) put down 50 kills in three games with only 10 hitting errors on 96 attempts. Jackie Oliveira led the way for ORU with 13 kills and 10 digs while Danijela Novakovic added 12 kills in the victory. Thais Parada contributed eight kills and 25 assists on the evening.


Centenary (1-13, 0-2 Summit) was unable to put together a consistent offensive attack in the loss. Rebekah Hill, Ashlee Freeman, Stephanie Hobaugh, and Christina Nichols each finished with five kills apiece. Hill and Nichols were the most successful hitters for the Maroon and White, both finishing with just one hitting error in 12 and 14 attempts respectively. Yvonne Ramirez paced the defense with 10 digs.


Centenary will host a pair of league games next weekend beginning with a 7 p.m. match against IUPUI on Friday in the Gold Dome. The Ladies will welcome conference newcomer IPFW to Shreveport on Saturday at 7 p.m.
