SHREVEPORT – After a heartbreaking 4-3 loss to IUPUI on Sunday, the Centenary men’s soccer team looks to bounce back on Saturday as it travels to Memphis. The Gents are looking for their first win in four matches after posting a 2-0 shutout victory over Belhaven on Sept. 12.

The Tigers will have to deal with a very dangerous Gents captain, senior Aaron Volanski, who leads the team and nation with eight goals. The Magnolia, Texas, native is tied for seventh in the country in points per game (2) and tied for second in goals per game (1).

Memphis (4-1-2) enters Saturday’s match as winners of two straight, which includes shutting out IPFW 4-0 and defeating Mercer 2-1 in Evansville, Ind. Prior to the Tigers two wins, they tied a pair of contests after they lost their first match of the season to Cal-State Fullerton, 2-0, on Sept. 7.

All-time against Memphis, Centenary is 2-6, and the Gents have lost the last four times they have played. The last time Centenary defeated the Tigers was late in the 1995 season, when the Gents took the match 4-2 in overtime.

Centenary will travel to IPFW next Friday to get back into Summit League action. The Gents will then return home to play Oakland and Oral Roberts on Oct.13 and 19.
