TULSA, Okla. – In the first Summit League action of 2007 for the Centenary (4-7-0) women’s soccer team, the Ladies fell to Oral Roberts (6-4-1) 1-0 on Sunday. Centenary had prime chances to score in the second period, but two of their seven shots went high and wide.

After opening the first half in attack mode, Centenary still was unable to get many offensive chances. Freshman Candace Rushing had the only shot on goal for the Ladies, but as a team Centenary had two shots total.

Senior Ali Hilsher played out of her mind in the first period making five saves, while her counterpart Stef Gurley made one stop. The Golden Eagles had 10 shots in the first half, while the Ladies could only muster their two chances.

Hilsher continued to play excellent in the second half, as she made stop after stop, but Natalya Manyan blasted a shot from about 30 yards that was just out of the reach of the Tulsa, Okla., native.

Hilsher made six saves in the match, Gurley also made six. Leading the way offensively for Centenary was Brittany Brooke O’Neal, who had three shots on goal, while the Golden Eagles were led by Manyan, who had two shots on goal.

The Ladies will be back in action on Wednesday in their second conference match of the year, when they host Southern Utah at 7 p.m.
