Ladies Golf Places 13th at ORU Shootout

TULSA, Okla. – Sophomore Jessica Garza (77-74-77, 228), who ended play in eighth, helped lead the Centenary women’s golf team to a 13th place finish on Tuesday at the Oral Roberts Shootout. The Ladies shot a 980 for their three rounds, finishing just four strokes behind Northeastern State for 12th and 54 below ORU, who won the event with a 926.


Garza, who was the high finisher for the Ladies, ended the tournament nine strokes behind the winner Angela Drane of Louisiana-Monroe, who shot a 219.


Centenary junior Chole Mims finished in a tie for 47th (81-80-84, 245), while sophomore Leigh Newton was nine strokes behind Mims in 62nd place (88-80-86, 254). Fellow sophomores Brittany Blackwell and Bethany Cox finished the three rounds in 65th (83-89-85, 257) and 71st place (85-88-90, 263) respectively.


The next action for Centenary will be on Oct. 22 and 23 at the Nicholls State Invitational.
