Ladies Swimming Rolls Over Incarnate Word

SHREVEPORT – By winning the first four events on Saturday, the Centenary women’s swimming team helped itself to defeat Incarnate Word, 142-62.  


In the 400 yard medley relay, Lauren Kloepfer, Kendra Norman, Leslie Wyatt and Leslie Clampitt swam right past their foes from Incarnate Word by eight seconds. The Ladies swam in a time of 4:12.75, while the Cardinals finished in 4:20.10. Maggie Vaughan won the 1000 yard freestyle (10:42.11), while Natalie Holcomb moved past her competition in a time of 1:58.46 in the 200 yard freestyle.


The 50 yard freestyle was the tightest of the first four races, as Clampitt (25.56) defeated Natalie Breault (25.60) by four hundredths of a second. The next race Centenary won was the 200 yard butterfly, as Kloepfer (2:12.72) was victorious by three seconds. Kloepfer (2:15.60) was again a winner in the 200 yard backstroke by five seconds over her teammate Jessica Brown.


Vaughan won the 500 yard freestyle (5:05.10) and Wyatt was the winner in the 200 yard breaststroke. In the final race of the day, Clampitt, Melanie Zimmerman, Alana Gregory and Natalie Nazzal (3:47.66) were the top finishers in the 400 yard freestyle relay.


The Ladies will be back in action on Saturday when they host Henderson State at 1 p.m.
