Mississippi Valley State and Ladies Meet on the Pitch

SHREVEPORT – Looking to get back in the win column on Thursday, the Centenary women’s soccer team will host Mississippi Valley State for the first of four straight home matches. The Ladies (4-10-1) come into the match on a three game skid, but they won their only meeting with the Delta Devilettes back in 2003, 5-1.


MVSU comes into the match 7-5-1, and it has won four out of its last six matches, including posting shutouts of Alcorn (5-0) and Southern (3-0).The Deviletts are led by Pella Hand, who has scored five goals, while Apolonia Kukla has given off a team-best four assists.


Centenary and MVSU have one common opponent so far this season, Nicholls State. The Deviletts won 4-2, while the Ladies defeated Nicholls 4-1.


Continuing to lead Centenary offensively is sophomore Brittany Brooke O’Neal, who has scored a career-high six goals. Her classmate Stefani Robbs is currently just two goals behind with four, and is currently nearing the top 10 all-time in career goals.


After Thursday’s match against MVSU, Centenary will get back into conference action on Oct. 26 and 28 against North Dakota State and South Dakota State. The Ladies will then close out the regular season on Nov. 2 against Western Illinois.
