SHREVEPORT – Friday will be the last time the Centenary men’s soccer team will appear at home in 2007. The Gents close out their home schedule against Oral Roberts at 7 p.m. with ‘Senior Day’ festivities for five of the student-athletes taking place prior to the match.

Centenary is still competing for one of the final spots in the Summit League Tournament and is just a half game behind Oral Roberts for the fourth and final position. The Gents are 1-2-0 in the conference, while the Golden Eagles are 1-1-0 in Summit League play. However, Centenary is also close to moving into the third spot for the tournament, as it sits just a game back from UMKC.

The Gents are led by senior co-captain Aaron Volanski, who has a league-leading nine goals this season. The Magnolia, Texas, native will also try to help lead his team to the conference tournament for the first time since joining the Summit League in 2003.

ORU, who is 4-7-0 overall, is led by Juan Chang and his five goals, while defensively the Golden Eagles are anchored by Andrew Techanchuk. Techanchuk, who has played in all 11 matches this season, has 48 saves and has allowed just 15 goals.

Along with Volanski, the Gents will honor seniors James Speed, John Marquart, Aron Taylor and Osama Buazza. After Friday’s match, Centenary will close out the regular season with three straight road contests, ending at UMKC on Nov. 3.
