Gents Miss Opportunities in Kansas City
Saturday, November 3, 2007

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – In a must win situation for the Centenary men’s soccer team it fell to UMKC on Saturday afternoon 3-0. UMKC killed the Gents dreams of making the Summit League Tournament in the 5th minute when it scored its first of three goals on a free kick.

Centenary (3-12-0, 2-4-0) created opportunities in the first half with three shots on goal, as freshmen Josh Gomillion and Zac Farrar, along with senior Aaron Volanski tried to hit paydirt.

In the second period, Volanski had another shot on goal and a penalty kick chance, but both went high. The Gents forced UMKC’s (7-7-3, 2-2-1) goal Ken Cooper into four saves, one of which was a diving stop midway through the second half.

For the match, senior goalkeeper James Speed had two saves, but allowed three Kangaroo goals to get past him.

With the loss Centenary closes out its 2007 season, and will open up the 2008 year with exhibition matches in August.
