Ninth Place Finish Completes Gents Golf Fall Season

LAFAYETTE, La. -- Freshman Greg Berthelot shot an eight over par on Tuesday, but it was not enough to move the Centenary men’s golf team up on the leader board. The Gents (336-328-339) completed the Battle on the Bend with a team score of 1003 to finish 9th, which was 116 strokes behind the winner Sam Houston State (286-295-306), who shot an 887.  


Berthelot (86-79-80), who shot a stroke higher in the third round that in the second to finish the tournament with a 245 to put him in 47th place. Sophomore Nick Faitz, who finished tied for 51st shot a 252 for the three-round tournament.


After topping the Centenary lead board on the first day, sophomore Mark Weeber (81-85-88, 254) finished in 54th place and third in the Gents contingency. Freshman Diego Martin-Perez (88-84-85) finished 56th after shooting a 257, while classmate Ryan Sparks (83-87-90) completed the event in 57th place.


The Battle on the Bend finishes the fall season for Centenary, and it will pick up the spring season on Feb. 9 at Southern Utah.
