Ladies End Season with Loss to NDSU

FARGO, N.D.—The Centenary volleyball team wrapped up its season with a 3-0 loss (30-22, 30-14, 30-12) on the road at North Dakota State on Saturday. It was the final match of Lindsay Bekelja’s career, the Ladies lone senior on the 2007 squad. Bekelja finished with 27 assists in her last performance in a Centenary uniform.


Centenary (2-28, 1-15 Summit) recorded 29 kills along with 25 errors in 113 attempts on offense for a hitting percentage of .035. Sophomore Rebekah Hill led the way with eight kills with just one error. Freshman Stephanie Hobaugh also tallied eight kills in the loss for the Ladies while junior Ashlee Freeman added seven kills. Freshman Yvonne Ramirez successfully dug 10 balls to lead Centenary on defense.


North Dakota State (20-7, 12-4 Summit) rode the duo of Brooke VandenBergh and Christy Stuewe, who had 15 kills and 13 kills respectively. Mattie Johnson handed out 35 assists for the Bisons and Lauren McLaughlin served up five aces in the victory. For the match, NDSU totaled 46 kills with 14 errors on 105 attempts in hitting .305 as a team.


The Ladies will look to their spring semester workouts as they continue to improve. Early signing period for this year’s class of recruits begins on Wednesday, November 14 and ends on November 21.
