SHREVEPORT—The Centenary softball team recently continued its string of community service projects by visiting the Shriners Hospital. The Shriners of North America have a philanthropic mission to support Shriners Hospitals for Children, a world-class network of 22 pediatric specialty hospitals located throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico. Since 1922, Shriners Hospitals for Children have significantly improved the lives of more than 800,000 children.

The Ladies were divided into groups of three per every child visited. The players helped the patients create a hat using straws and tape. The program proved to be enjoyable for both the players and the individuals at the hospital. When finished, the Ladies put on a funny skit for the audience of children about what they would like to be if they weren’t softball players.

“It is very exciting to be able to get our players out into the community and touch lives like that, even if it is just for a moment,” said head softball coach Mark Montgomery. “I know our players enjoyed their visit, and I hope the individuals we met today enjoyed it as well.”
