HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- After making school history in state flag football intramural tournament in November, the Centenary softball and women's soccer team, along with a member of Chi-Omega played in the Southern Mississippi Regional Tournament during the weekend.

The Ladies got off to a fast start on Saturday when they shutdown Alabama, 26-6 in the first game of pool play. With the win Centenary automatically advanced into the tournament on Sunday. In the night cap on Saturday, the Ladies were defeated 47-13 by Florida A&M.

Trying to make more Centenary history, the Ladies first round opponent was West Florida, who defeated Louisiana State Champion Southern on the first day. Centenary just missed moving on in the tournament, losing to the West Florida Argonauts 26-22 in the semifinals.

The Ladies finished third in the tournament after scoring 61 points during the two-day event. Meanwhile, West Florida won the tournament after defeating Florida A&M in the championship game.

Centenary shortstop Emerald Doria was the only Centenary student-athlete named to the regional all-tournament team. Doria was also awarded all-tournament team during state play.
