Gents Struggle in Final Round

CEDAR CITY, Utah – Freshman Greg Berthelot (76-75, 151) second round score was just slightly better than his first, but it could not carry the Centenary men’s golf team to victory at the Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invitational, hosted by Southern Utah. The Gents (312-314, 626) finished 18th and 64 strokes behind Kentucky, who won the event with a 562.


Berthelot finished in a tie for 69th and was four strokes better than sophomore teammate Mark Weeber (78-77, 155), who closed out the tournament in a tie for 81st. Fellow sophomore Nick Faitz (78-79, 157) was just two strokes behind Weeber after completing the tournament tied for 92nd.    


Rounding out Centenary’s golfers were freshmen Ryan Sparks (80-83, 163), who finished tied for 109th and Diego Martin-Perez (83-83, 166) tied for 116th.


The next action for the Gents will be on Feb. 23-25 at Jackson State.
